“Tony gave a great talk about all things Volvano, and it was so interesting.

He had a wonderful expression of “I am a student of “… never an expert.

His father was from the Western District, so spent time in around Tower Hill and his interest in Volcanoes was started.

Tony is “also a student of” bugs & butterflies. Has thoughts on the ice age and global warming. And of course he is a Skin specialist but recently retired.

Tony and his wife Bronwyn have stood on the edge of New Zealand’s White Island Volcano.

We remember when that erupted in 2019 and 22 people were killed and 29 were injured.
Tony said you never know when it may happen.

White island was name by Captain James Cook because of the white cloud above the volcano.

There are 1500 volcanoes on earth today some more active than others,

The Krakatoa eruption in 1883 produced the loudest sound in modern history, it was reported in the Argus newspaper that the explosion was heard in Perth WA and created a drop in temperature of 1degree across the world.

Tony spoke about Thermal Energy and how in Birdsville it is already in use.”
