We lost our dear friend John Virgona Long Time member and 2008 Past President of The Rotary Club of Bayside Geelong and recipient of PHF recognition in 2006 and Saphire in 2011.

 

John was also: Secretary in the years 2003 & 2004. Fundraising Director in 2006, 2010 which included COGG staff Christmas party Dinner and Bollard Editor in 2011 Condolences to the family. John will be missed by all his Rotary friends.

 

He epitomized Rotary's motto of Service Above Self. John was born in Geelong and attended St. Joseph’s secondary College and then attained his Engineering qualification at the Gordon Technical College.

 

He was employed for much of his working life at Alcoa prior to his retirement.

 

Several current members of the RC of Bayside Geelong attended John’s Funeral at St Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church in Mercer Street Geelong on Friday 20th June 2025.

 

Also in attendance were several past members and partners which showed the high regard that John was held in. Friday 20th June 2025.
