What an interesting interview we were privilege to be part of on Tuesday 28th. Listening to Rosie Batty speak about the challenges she has had after losing her sone Luke to family violence.

Rosie spoke about her new book Hope and how she is moving forward. She spoke about grief and how we all deal differently with it. She said she was criticized for being very stoic with her grief, but her way was to move forward and make a difference to Domestic Violence, and that is what she did.

Rosie said,
“If anything comes out of this, I want it to be a lesson to everybody that family violence happens to everybody no matter how nice your house is, no matter how intelligent you are. It happens to anyone and everyone.”
She has had an effect on lives, and it is referred to known as the Batty Effect click the link to read more.

We had a delicious dinner after the meeting provided by members Judy B, Judy E, Andrea, Aileen, Telsa, Jo, and Ian. Thank you to the navy club for the use of their kitchen and also to Karen for looking after us so well.

It was an interesting evening and we realise now with the help of our fabulous IT person Aileen, we can invite speakers from anywhere we choose.
