SAA John Spiteri opened the meeting with the invocation and toast to the flag, then welcomed President Peter to the Lectern. Peter spoke about the tremendous night of interaction with Torquay Rotary Club and the local fire brigade, held last week at Freshwater Creek Hall. He particularly thanked Jo and Chris for their organisation of activities and trivia, and Brian and the group for their catering/BBQ efforts. The 2 clubs jointly presented a cheque for $2000 to the Fire Brigade; money raised over the last 2 years. Peter then raved about what an exciting year it’s promising to be for Kaye and him in their profession, he was excited about the tennis, meeting exchange student Ainsley at the airport, what a great place Australia is and how well behaved the endless queues were at the tennis…..he had a captive audience to chat to for hours about the benefits of Rotary! (What a great evangelist). He then shouted us all a glass of bubbly and we toasted Australia, Rotary International and then Kaye and Peter, when Judy announced it was their 40th Wedding Anniversary. Congratulations Kaye and Peter from all club members.
