Gave a wonderful presentation on Tuesday evening about her recent holiday to Norfolk Island.

Judy travelled with a few Rotarians from different clubs including friend and husband PDG Phillip from Torquay RC, and PDG Jane Cox from Geelong Central RC.

The tour was organised though Past DG Kathy Rivett’s tour company and the itinerary included visits to the Kingston historic area, Mount Pitt, and author Colleen McCullough’s home, a clifftop barbecue, farm and industry tour, a breakfast bushwalk, murder mystery dinner, and a Taste of Norfolk local produce experience.

The murder mystery evening looked amazing with each person given the name and costume to wear of a past resident of the Island.

Judy and Phillip were Reverend George Hunn Nobbs and his wife Sarah Nobbs.

George was a pastor for 55years on Pitcairn and Norfolk Island.

George died in 1884 and Sarah living to the wonderful age of 91 and passing away in 1899.

Judy share the history of Norfolk Island with the connection to Pitcairn.

The good ship Bounty left England in 1787 then the mutiny changed history in 1789 when the mutineers sailed the Bounty to Pitcairn Island leaving Captain Bligh behind.

Then on the 3rd of May 1856, the entire Pitcairn community of 194 persons sailed for Norfolk in the Morayshire .

After the miserable trip of 3,700 miles, during which virtually the entire ship's complement was hideously seasick for the entire 5 weeks, the Morayshire arrived at Norfolk Island on the 8th of June 1856.

A re-enactment of this landing is celebrated annually. Perhaps because the date is also that of the day that the Bounty was commissioned, it is commonly known as Bounty Day.

Thank you, Judy, for a wonderful informative presentation, I think you have left us all with a longing for a trip to Norfolk Island.
