An interesting evening was held last Tuesday the 25th March. A Changeover with a difference.

The last of the three wonderful people to put their hand up to lead the team this year, Dan Furlan has stepped up.

The evening started early with a delicious Cheese and Fruit board supplied by Jan Berry, thank you Jan, I think all members enjoyed their pre meeting 30 minute charcuterie and chatting time, great way to start the night.

Daryll Webb was chairperson for the evening and started the proceeding by welcoming Members and guests, Shirley Marendaz, Deb and Mark Furlan, David Patterson and Jan Berry were all there to support and thank Rick Berry for a job well done and to welcome Dan Furlan as President for the remaining 4 month of the year.

How appropriate, and then passed over to Rick to let The Games Begin.

There is something about Bayside and Trivia that always makes for a successful evening, thank you Rick and Jan for organising all the question sheets, a very nice selection I might add. Tables of 4 filled the room and much whispering over the correct answers, no we weren’t playing for Sheep Station only chocolate but winning and chocolate is a great combination I feel.

It was a ladies table that won, Judy Beasley, Andrea Patterson and Jo White, Chocolate all around ladies
The second and official part of the evening was the Change Over, where we exchange the roles or duties of President. President Rick gave his report and covered the activities over the last 4months, BBQ, Social Activities, and Guest Speakers.

He thanked the work the Telsa does, heading up the Days for Girls team, and mentioned our joint project with the Torquay Club for the school program in Lese Oalai in PNG.

How great it is to be back in the Youth Exchange program with Mietta Corbey in Sicily. only a small club but were able to have 6 members at District Conference this year and had 2 displays tables in the Showcase area, (formally house of friendship). Telsa with DfG, and District Chair Ian Aranyosi with Donate Life Organ donation.

It was the last duty of President Rick to officially asked the question of Dan, “Do you accept the responsibility to the office of President “ to that Dan made his positive reply.

Welcome once again Dan to this office, Dan is also a past president 2003/04 and charted member of Bayside, so I am sure we are in very safe hands. Chairperson Daryll close for the evening was “Today , remember the smallest act of kindness or focus can create a ripple effect, making a positive difference in your day and the lives of those around you.

Stay well everyone
Cheers Jo
